Crans-Montana spreads its marked pistes across a south-facing balcony above the Rhone valley, with the terrain running from the Plaine Morte Glacier down to the golf-course level of the Haut-Plateau. One lift pass covers that network, so the real planning question is not which sector to buy but which duration and product type suits your trip. This guide sets out what Remontees mecaniques de Crans Montana Aminona (CMA) SA and the resort tourism board publish about coverage, the winter window and the Pass One range.

What the Crans-Montana Ski Pass Covers

The ski area is marketed as roughly 140 kilometres of marked pistes between about 1,500 and 3,000 metres, all facing south, stretching from the Plaine Morte Glacier down to the golf course on the plateau. A single pass is intended to reach that whole network rather than one isolated sector, nonetheless, a scheduled season does not promise that every lift, link or piste will run on any given day, so treat the published trail map as the ceiling of what a pass can access, not a daily guarantee.

For comparison, other Alpine resorts bundle their lifts in similar all-network products, including the Jungfrau Ski Region, where a single ticket also spans several linked villages. The practical point is the same: you are buying access to a defined lift network, not to individual runs, so check which sectors actually connect in the week you travel. Local snow reports usually list open lifts and links day by day.

Season Window and the Snow-Dependent Partial Opening

Remontees mecaniques de Crans Montana Aminona (CMA) SA lists the winter season as running from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. It adds that partial opening may begin earlier, from Saturday 28 November, but explicitly ties that to snow conditions. A late-November trip should not assume lifts will run: the early start is a possibility, not a commitment.

A separate note on the same operator page shows Crans-Cry d'Er and Montana-Arnouva remaining open through 25 October 2026 for the current operating period. That is a status update about the season then running, and it should not be read as a term of the 2026-2027 winter pass. When you plan, match your dates to the winter window rather than to any shoulder-season lift status.

Day Pass Versus the Long-Run Pass One

For a normal holiday, the visitor product is a day or multi-day pass bought through the resort's sales channels. The tourism board states you can buy your ski pass online and benefit from online rates, and it presents day and annual passes as separate purchase routes. If you are travelling for a week, compare the cost of consecutive days against whatever multi-day product is on sale at the time instead of treating a season product as cheaper by default.

Pass One is a different animal: a long-run product that starts with the next summer opening and continues through the 2026-2027 winter season. That year-round framing makes it a poor fit for a winter-only visitor even setting eligibility aside. Treat Pass One as a local's annual commitment and the day pass as the visitor default unless you genuinely use the area across summer and winter.

Who Actually Qualifies for Pass One

Sponsored

Pass One is not open to every buyer. CMA restricts Pass One Crans-Montana to residents whose tax domicile sits in one of the three Haut-Plateau communes, Crans-Montana, Lens and Icogne, plus residents of Noble-Contree. A separate Pass One R2 covers owners of second homes in those same Haut-Plateau communes. If neither description fits you, the day and multi-day products are your route.

That eligibility split matters because some resorts in Switzerland sell an annual pass to anyone willing to pay, so visitors reasonably assume the same here. Crans-Montana does not, at least for the Pass One range as CMA describes it. Before committing to any annual-style product, check whether your residency or ownership status satisfies the terms and what proof CMA requires.

Buying Online and Collection Questions

The tourism board directs visitors to an online purchase route and notes that advantageous rates apply there. What it does not publish, in the information available, is the actual tariff table for 2026-2027 lift passes, including adult, youth and child day rates. Because no reliable price figures are available, plan a budget range and confirm the exact amount at the point of sale rather than relying on remembered prices from past seasons.

Collection is another detail worth settling before you pay. Ask whether your online order loads onto a rechargeable card, whether you collect at a ticket window in Crans or Montana, and whether a deposit applies to the media itself. None of these are confirmed by the sources here, so raise them as questions when you order. If you are booking crans montana ski lessons separately, coordinate meeting times with your pass collection to avoid losing a morning.

Children, Fastlane and Ski Lockers

Sponsored

Children aged 0 to 5 receive free access to the ski area when accompanied by an adult parent holding the same subscription, according to CMA. That is a meaningful saving for families with very young children, but it depends on the accompanying adult holding an equivalent pass. Pass One is also offered in a Pass One + version that adds access to the Fastlane queue-cutting system, so Fastlane is an upgrade rather than a standard inclusion.

Ski lockers can be hired by the week, month or season at the lift departures in Crans, Montana (Signal) and Violettes, and a CHF 100 deposit is taken when you collect the key. A premium locker service runs through the Ski and Ride Shops, while lockers at the Chetseron car park are handled by the Chermignon Bourgeoisie. If you plan to leave gear on the mountain, reserve early in peak weeks.

Plan Your Visit

Decide first whether you are a visitor or a potential Pass One holder, because that single question rules out most of the confusion. Visitors buy day or multi-day passes online, while Pass One serves local residents and second-home owners under the terms CMA publishes. Once you know your category, the remaining choices are duration and dates.

Then pin your travel to the winter window, 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, and treat any earlier opening as snow-dependent rather than scheduled. Buy online if the rate suits, settle collection and deposit questions at the point of sale, and check current tariffs directly with CMA. For wider context on the resort, the Crans-Montana Skiing overview covers the terrain and sectors in more depth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Crans-Montana ski pass valid for a whole season?

The visitor day and multi-day passes cover the days you buy, not a whole season. The Pass One range is a long-run product starting with the summer opening and continuing through the 2026-2027 winter, but eligibility is restricted to local residents and second-home owners. Most visitors should expect to buy day or multi-day products.

Can visitors buy the Pass One Crans-Montana pass?

No. Pass One Crans-Montana is limited to residents with tax domicile in Crans-Montana, Lens, Icogne or Noble-Contree, and Pass One R2 is limited to owners of second homes in the Haut-Plateau communes. If neither applies, buy the standard day or multi-day pass instead.

Are children free on the Crans-Montana ski pass?

Children aged 0 to 5 get free access to the ski area when accompanied by an adult parent holding the same subscription. That condition matters, so make sure at purchase that your own pass qualifies you as the accompanying adult.

What does Pass One + add over the standard Pass One?

Pass One + adds access to the Fastlane queue-cutting system. It is a separate version rather than a feature of the base pass, so if queue time matters to you, compare the two at the point of sale and confirm the current terms with the lift company.
