Methodology

How we research Alpine ski-trip options.

Our Editorial Philosophy

A useful resort choice depends on your skiing level, season and plans. We compare ski areas, pass coverage, lessons and rentals using cited sources, then explain the tradeoffs.

How We Rank Options

Resort recommendations consider these criteria and explain their limits:

  1. 1

    Trip fit

Compare skiing level, visit timing and the decisions the guide addresses.

  2. 2

    Ski-area access

Use official maps and operator descriptions for connections and beginner facilities.

  3. 3

    Pass and service scope

Check what a pass, lesson or rental includes, including stated restrictions.

  4. 4

    Season and availability

Distinguish announced seasonal plans from current live opening and availability.

  5. 5

    Evidence

Cite factual claims and identify unsupported or uncertain details.

What We Don't Rank By

Understanding what we explicitly exclude matters for trust.

  • ✗Affiliate commission rates
  • ✗Paid placement
  • ✗Invented resort visits
  • ✗Unverified snow or safety guarantees

Where Our Data Comes From

Our recommendations synthesize multiple signal types. We prioritize signals in this order:

  1. 1. Tourism offices and lift operators

Ski areas, official maps, seasonal announcements and lift-pass products

  2. 2. Ski schools and rental operators

Direct descriptions of lessons, equipment services and booking terms

  3. 3. Attributed reporting

Published context with an identifiable source and date

Handling Uncertainty

When a source doesn't confirm a detail, the guide says so and points you to the operator page to check. We'd rather be clear about what is published than guess.
